VE-Ware

Free building energy and carbon analysis
Yes, completely free whole-building annual energy and carbon usage tool.  Accessed by the IES plug-ins to Google SketchUp™ (also free) or Autodesk® Revit®, VE-Ware is a way for everyone to get involved in the drive for energy efficiency in buildings – IES believes everyone should have the capability to understand “how well does my building perform?”

Global coverage
VE-Ware can analyse both new and existing buildings of all types and across all global locations, allowing anyone involved in building design or refurbishment to compare at the click of a few buttons how different designs, layouts and system options affect energy performance.

Power of the IES <Virtual Environment>
This tool utilizes our world leading ApacheSim dynamic thermal analysis software to provide indicative comparison results. The calculation is based on real geometry, international data on climatic conditions and typical characteristics for different building, room and system types, as chosen by the user.

Architecture 2030 Challenge (N. America)
In North America VE-Ware checks how well your building performs against Architecture 2030 Challenge targets.

SBEM Regulation Compliance (UK)
In the UK, users can access our accredited VE-SBEM tool for regulation compliance and Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) generation.

Step-by-step

Buildings account for around 40% of global carbon dioxide emissions, but also offer the greatest potential for significant reductions. VE-Ware gives everyone the capability to get involved in mitigating climate change in 6 easy steps:

1. Import geometry data

2. Tell it where your building is in the world

3. Define your: building type, construction materials, heating & cooling systems and room types

4. Press a button – automatic detailed thermal simulation is performed for you

5. Get output on: energy use, CO2 emissions, 2030 Challenge, and UK regulations

6. You can then easily modify your building and assess different options
